I get a lot of the same questions from couples, and I love answering them because it means you're thinking seriously about your wedding entertainment. Here are the ones I hear most often.
How far in advance should we book? For most couples, I recommend booking 12 to 18 months in advance, especially if you're getting married in the spring or fall, which are the busiest seasons here in the Texas Panhandle. However, we occasionally have last-minute openings, so it's always worth reaching out even if your date is coming up soon.
Can we choose our own music? Absolutely, and I encourage it. This is your day, and your playlist should sound like you. Before your wedding, we'll go through your must-play list, your do-not-play list, and your favorite genres or artists. I'll build around your choices and fill the gaps with songs I know will keep your guests on the floor. And yes, if you love that one obscure indie song nobody else has ever heard of, I'll play it.
Do you know our venue? Very likely, yes. I've performed at the majority of wedding venues in and around Amarillo and serve as the preferred DJ at several of them. That means I already know the layout, the acoustics, the load-in, and the staff before I even arrive on your wedding day. It makes everything smoother for everyone.
What areas do you serve? I'm based in Amarillo and regularly serve couples throughout the Texas Panhandle. We're also available in Canyon, Borger, Pampa, Hereford, Dumas, Canadian, and Bushland. I've also traveled for weddings across Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, and Kansas. If you're planning a destination wedding in the region, I'm happy to travel.
What does it cost? Packages start at $1,325 and go up to $2,425. Most couples end up around $2,175, which covers the full experience: music, professional emceeing, microphones, and lighting. (We also have other DJ's available at a lower cost). I don't believe in padding packages with things you don't need, and I don't leave out anything truly important for your day. We'll talk through it together and build exactly what's right for you.
Do you also handle the emceeing? Yes, and it's one of the things I take most seriously. A good wedding emcee keeps the evening flowing without making the night feel scripted or forced. I'll announce your grand entrance, cue your first dance, keep transitions smooth, and make sure every guest knows what's happening without over-talking the microphone.
What equipment do you use? I use professional-grade sound equipment, wireless microphones for your officiant and couple during the ceremony, and a variety of lighting options to transform your venue. Everything is maintained and tested before every event. I've been doing this since 1979. Equipment failures are not something I take chances on.
What makes you different from other Amarillo wedding DJs? Honestly? Four decades of experience. I've worked more weddings than most Amarillo DJs have attended. That means I've seen every scenario imaginable. Timelines often shift, vendors who run late, unexpected toasts, power hiccups, and I know how to handle all of it without your guests ever knowing there was a hitch. I'm also a preferred DJ at many of Amarillo's most popular venues, which means I arrive already knowing the space. And because I care about every couple I work with, my reviews speak for themselves: The Knot "Best of Weddings" and "Hall of Fame", Zola "Best DJ", and "Best of Amarillo".
